Wow, I hooked this on to my grandson’s line and he caught a 24″ walleye, and three northern pike (24, 26, and 28″) in less than three hours. Rapalas and Storm Chug Bugs are killer lures.

I’ve used several sizes and colors of this product with great results. The countdown is particularly good for deep water where the floating version is great for water with trees and other underwater debris. I primarily use it for river fishing in a pretty big tail water and the trout as small as 7-8 inches attack it, even in the larger sizes. I prefer the 3/16 to get better casting distance. Check with some local anglers to get the preferred color and size for your area then fish on.

Plain and simple, this lure catches fish! In the past 55 years that I have been fishing, starting when I was barely old enough to hold a fishing rod, I have fished all kinds of lures in all kinds of environments. I bought my first Rapala Countdown lure in the 70′s and have periodically fished them ever since. The most prolific fish catching Countdown has been this Perch by far. I have caught a variety of fish on this lure this summer (2010) including a 4 lb. pickerel, 3 lb. largemouth bass, and hundreds of smaller fish including white perch, yellow perch, many smaller largemouth bass and pickerel, bluegill, and crappy.

I love to catch a variety of fish because I have found that a good fishing outing requires the catching of many fish large and small. The more fish I catch, the more fun I have and this lure helps me attain that goal. Buy it.
