A small boat that is equipped and primarily designed for bass fishing and is usually used in fresh water catchments like lakes, streams and also rivers. They are not designed to accommodate many people because they are small. They cannot accommodate more than four people on them so as to leave some space for the fish on board. Most of the bass boats are usually built and constructed by using either fiberglass or aluminum. The bass boats are usually constructed using these two types of materials because these materials are light, cheap and can be acquired easily. Bass boats made from both materials are very cheap but the ones made from aluminum are lighter and much cheaper than the ones made from fiberglass. However, the boats made from fiberglass have more space, offer better handling and have the ability to house large outboard motors.

The bass boats have undergone evolution over the years from the narrow flat bottom boats that had raised seats to the high performance machines that are available in the market today. One can use almost any type of boat for bass fishing although some boats suit some situations better than others.
